Scrum Master, Product Owner and BA roles in South Africa
Johannesburg and Sandton are home to the head offices of many of South Africa's banks, insurers, telecoms and consulting firms, and these organisations run large Agile delivery teams. South African adverts use titles such as Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Product Owner, Business Analyst and Delivery Manager. Business Analyst roles are especially common in financial services, and many of them now sit inside Scrum teams — so BA / PO skills on a live backlog are valuable.
Because SAST sits so close to UK and European time, South African Agile professionals also work with international teams. How the class times fit a South African day
Batches are scheduled in India Standard Time (IST), which is always 3 hours 30 minutes ahead of South Africa. Neither country uses daylight saving, so the times below stay the same all year.
The evening India mentorship batch is a 4:00–5:30 PM weekday class in South Africa, while the morning India batch falls in the early hours (3:30–5:00 AM) — so most learners choose the evening batch. Every mentorship class is recorded, and you can rejoin the next batch free.
SAFe® workshops run on Saturday and Sunday, 1:00–9:00 PM IST, which is 9:30 AM–5:30 PM in South Africa — an ordinary daytime slot, so you can complete a certification over one weekend without taking leave.
How live online classes work from South Africa
Classes are live on video, with the trainer running a real JIRA board and you running the same project on your own laptop. You rotate through Scrum Master and Product Owner duties in simulated sprint events and get feedback in a small cohort of about 4–6 learners; if load-shedding or a meeting knocks out a session, the recording and free rejoin of the next batch cover it.

Which batch suits a South African working day?
The evening India batch runs 4:00–5:30 PM SAST, at the end of the working day, so most South African learners choose it — check with your manager if it overlaps your hours. The morning India batch (3:30–5:00 AM SAST) is too early for most people. Every mentorship class is recorded, and you can rejoin the next batch free.
Will this help with remote roles for UK or European teams?
It can help you prepare. SAST is one hour ahead of the UK in summer and two hours ahead in winter, so many South African Agile professionals work with UK and European teams. The live-project mentorship gives you recent, specific delivery examples, and the Mock Interview Series (5 live mocks, 100+ situational questions) lets you practise the competency questions those employers ask.
